When the
O-rings is properly assembled and used under proper conditions, it generally will not roll or twist under reciprocating motion.Because the contact area of the rubber O-ring with the groove is larger than the frictional contact area of the sliding surface,Moreover, the resistance of the rubber O-rings itself can prevent twisting. However, in the case of improper use, it is easy to cause distortion and cause damage. The methods to prevent O-ring distortion damage are:
- The section size of the rubber O-ring should be uniform and the sealing part should be fully coated with lubricating oil or grease every time it is installed.
- Increase the cross-sectional diameter of the rubber O-ring, and the cross-sectional diameter of the O-ring for dynamic sealing should generally be larger than the rubber O-ring for static sealing. In addition, rubber O-rings should be avoided as seals for large diameter pistons.
- The concentricity of the rubber O-ring installation groove should be considered from two aspects: convenient processing and no distortion.
- When twisting damage occurs under low pressure, the sealing ring can be used to protect the retaining ring.
- The rubber O-ring can be replaced by a sealing ring that is not easy to twist.
- Use materials with low friction coefficient to make the O-ring to reduce the surface roughness of the cylinder and piston rod.
Generally speaking, it is not common for qualified O-rings to be distorted during proper installation and use.
Our company is specialized in producing all kinds of rubber seals, such as O-ring, FKM oil seal, stainless steel PTFE oil seal, rotary seal (hub oil seal, box oil seal), etc.
